Get ready to get slimy with the Polyvinyl Alcohol Slime kit. This strange gel can flow, break and then stick back together. It's unlike any material you've seen before!
The unique combination of polyvinyl alcohol and borax mix creates some crazy cool slime that is the real deal. How does it work? Why doesn't it break apart when you stretch it? Explore and find out more with this fun chemistry kit!
If making real clear slime isn't cool enough, you can also change the colour by adding indicator liquids like phenol red and bromhthymol blue! And don't be foorled by this mini-kit - it'll make up multiple small pieces of slime.

How Does it Work?
The combination of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and borax makes a reaction that creates cross-links between polymer chains.
The slime that forms is a non-Newtonian fluid, and is dilatant. This means that under low stress (such as gently pulling), the slime flows and stretches and can form a thin film. But under high stress (such as a sharp, quick pulls) the slime breaks. This is also why when you throw a small piece of the slime at the table, it bounces.
The cross-links between the polymer chains can be destroyed by adding an acid. Add an alkali (a base that dissolves in water) and the slime will be regenerated! How cool!
